SHOWING
Valentine Ranch travels and competes in approximately 30 shows a year. Christina trains and guides the students and horse owners to winning rides and successful fun trips monthly. Because we have such a wide variety of breeds and disciplines, a heavy show schedule is planned for the 2009 show season. We will be showing in local, state, regional, national, world, and varous breed shows. See the show calendar for proposed dates.
What Kind of Shows Are These?

BREED SHOWS:: Our barn represents many different horses who are able to compete in their own breed shows. We regularly attend appaloosa shows,  quarter horse shows, and buckskin shows.

NEOSHA: North East Oklahoma Stock Horse Association. An Open Show to primarily stock breeds with crossbar and over fences classes up to 2 ft 6 in. Rail & Pattern Classes in Hunter & Western. Halter & Showmanship classes. These are held in Norman, Shawnee and Stillwater.

GO SHOWS and EDMOND HUNTER/JUMPER SERIES: GO Shows are focused on the exhibition of hunters and jumpers. The "Greater Oklahoma Hunter Jumper Association" has schooling shows as well as B and A level shows throughout the year. Show classes consist of low to moderate to high levels of jumping and all levels of riders can participate. The flat classes are judged differently than breed shows, as they seek a more relaxed head set and forward moving horse. Many competitors are showing thoroughbreds and warmbloods but all breeds are welcomed. The GO shows are a great and long established circuit of shows which will enable a hunter/jumper to compete regularly.

4-H SHOWS: Oklahoma 4-H Club provides a variety of show opportunities from local open shows to highly competitive district, state and regional shows. You must own your own horse and be a member of our local 4-H club to show at the district level and above. Anyone may compete in the local open shows. The show bills for hunter and western disciplines will include rail and pattern classes; halter and showmanship classes; reining, trail and western riding classes; speed events; and over fences classes. These shows provide fun and companionship with horse people in our community.

Showing at VR is always a memorable experience whether you own your own horse or lease one of ours. The excitement usually begins on Thursday or Friday evening with bathing and clipping. Riders must have a unified and crisp appearance when entering the arena. Christina strives for perfection from all the show riders in their turnout; for that is one area that we as humans have total control. Getting to the barn at 6 a.m. show day for the load up is always a treat, (just not for all the non-morning people!) The excitement of the hooves on the trailer floors, the horses know right away this means there is going to be a "road trip." They know when they get all dressed up in their show clothes and their legs are wrapped that it is time to go perform.
